Crawley and Burgess Hill Children’s Nursery
Education
At Little Explorers, our goal is to develop confident, independent and curious learners who are ready and excited for every stage of their learning journey.
We encourage confidence and independence through a variety of stimulating, educational activities both indoors and out.
We are required to deliver an educational curriculum through the use of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our knowledgeable teachers ensure the 7 areas of learning and development are covered on a daily basis in an enabling environment. We believe children learn best when following their own interests and our teachers support children using spontaneous, in the moment teaching methods.
The 7 areas of Learning and Development are:
- Communication and language
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Physical development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design

The future belongs to the curious; the ones who are not afraid to try it, explore it, poke at it, question it and turn it inside out.
The world for our little learners is full of new experiences and adventures. We believe curiosity to be the basis of education and understand that curiosity grows from the safe and familiar, therefore we offer safe and familiar environments that feed children’s desire to investigate, explore and stimulate their senses. Our teachers scaffold the children’s learning and join them in a journey of discovery in the world around them.
As well as feeling safe, children must also develop the confidence and independence to be able to explore and learn. We support children to develop these skills through carefully planned environments with a range of activities and choices. Children are always encouraged to have a go, try new things and engage in experiences outside of their comfort zone.
Our teachers role model respect and kindness between each other and support children in learning to respect their environment through tidying away resources and learning about the natural world.
Children are encouraged to treat their friends with kindness and teachers support children in understanding their differences and similarities. We encourage all our children to express their emotions positively and support them in developing their Theory of Mind to understand that others may have different opinions to themselves.
Little Explorers offers children a wide range of possibilities daily, the wider this range the more intense their motivations to learn and the richer their experiences.
